The main bed is a king size double, with two bedside tables each with lamps and chargers. A sofa bed can add a further double, so the apartment sleeps up to four guests.
→Fully equipped with a cooker, fridge, microwave and all utensils and crockery needed for your stay, plus an espresso coffee machine.
→Includes a heated mirror and a modern multi-function shower with five different shower sprays, including a waterfall.
→A fire alarm system is in place, with an up to date inspection certificate and safety certificates for fire extinguishers and gas installation.
→Children of all ages are welcome, though no high chair or cot is supplied. Dogs are permitted provided they are kept off furniture.
→The apartment is a recent conversion of the old weaving room belonging to the Arts and Crafts designer Annie Garnet. The whole cottage dates from the mid 19th century, when the right-hand half was the stable block for Fairfield House, adjacent to the cottage, where the Garnet family lived. The left-hand extension was added by Ms Garnet around 1900 to extend her workshop and design studio.
There is more information about the spinning and weaving business run by Annie Garnet at the Museum of Lakeland Life in Kendal, owned by the Lakeland Arts trust, who have also published a booklet about her work entitled Spinning the Colours of Lakeland. A copy is kept in the apartment, and the book can be purchased from the nearby Arts and Crafts house Blackwell, just a mile from the apartment.
